Grading/Assessment¶
Your final grade will be based on the following:
10% Participation Activities (PA) and Challenge Activities (CA) from the zyBook assigned weekly. It is your responsibility to complete the activities by the given deadline - late completion will be penalized.
10% for normative quizzes, based on the activities from the previous week, will be assigned online on Canvas on weekends (see the schedule). Each quiz will be 15 minutes in duration but you will be able to start the quiz at any time in a window of 36 hours. The best 10 scores will be used.
40% for two in-class, midterm exams to be given on Feb. 20th (Thursday) and April 9th (Thursday).
15% for weekly homework problem sets will be handed out on Canvas on Thursday morning for completion at home. Each problem set will be due back the following Thursday (a week later) at the start of class. The ten best scores will be used.
25% for a comprehensive final exam that will be given during the official final exam period on Thursday, May 7, 2020⋅from 11:20am to 2:20pm. The exam will be conducted in the same classroom.
There will be no makeup for missed quizzes or homework not submitted in time in class: remember that you get to drop your 2 worst grades from either category so upto a couple of missed/delayed submissions are ok. Makeups for exams will generally not be entertained except in the case of a verifiable, documented emergency (medical or personal). If you wish to request special accommodation, e.g. extra time on exams for medical reasons, please obtain the relevant documents from the Division of Student Affairs.
