Grading/Assessment

Your final grade will be based on the following:

* **10%** Participation Activities (PA) and Challenge Activities
  (CA) from the zyBook assigned weekly. It is your responsibility
  to complete the activities by the given deadline - late
  completion will be penalized.

* **10%** for normative **quizzes**, based on the activities from the
  *previous* week, will be **assigned online on Canvas on
  weekends** (see the schedule). Each quiz will be 15 minutes in
  duration but you will be able to start the quiz at any time in
  a window of 36 hours. The *best 10 scores* will be used.

* **40%** for two **in-class, midterm exams** to be given on
  Feb. 20th (Thursday) and April 9th (Thursday). 

* **15%** for weekly **homework problem sets** will be handed out on Canvas
  on *Thursday* morning for completion at home. Each problem set
  will be due back the following Thursday (a week later) at the
  start of class. The *ten best scores* will be used.

* **25%** for a comprehensive **final exam** will be given during the
  official final exam period. 

There will be **no makeup** for missed quizzes or homework not
submitted in time in class: remember that you get to drop your 2
worst grades from either category so upto a couple of
missed/delayed submissions are ok. Makeups for exams will
generally not be entertained except in the case of a
**verifiable, documented emergency** (medical or personal). If
you wish to request special accommodation, e.g. extra time on
exams for medical reasons, please obtain the relevant documents
