One of the primary thrusts of my music is performing medieval and renaissance music, preferably on period instruments. The biggest problem with this from my perspective is the somewhat prohibitive cost of these specialized instruments and the difficulty of obtaining them. Historically, some of the early musicians made their own instruments (before the Renaissance), so I decided to try my hand a making a couple. I made a teardrop mandolin from a kit, and then decided to tackle several others. Links to the rather extensive research and the construction projects on each instrument are below.
