Logistics¶

This course is among the required courses in the CS department’s Scientific Computing Masters program as well as the Applied Computing concentration in the MBS program

The class will meet once a week on Monday from 6pm to 8:50pm in BSB 134 on the Camden campus: students registered for this class from New Brunswick must participate synchronously using BigBlueButton (the default video conferencing tool on Canvas) - other details will be announced in the first class on 9/9. The sessions will be recorded and posted on the Canvas CMS at Rutgers. All class instruction and interactions will take place via these sessions, including lecture slides, electronic whiteboards, quizzes, live-coding on shared screens etc. Canvas will be used for hosting all the material (shared documents, online discussions, quizzes, problem set submission, grades) in the course.

All students are required to participate in every class session whether in person in Camden/New Brunswick or by computer. Please note that this is not an online class! In adition, students will be required to meet in person on the Camden campus for project presentations: dates will be announced in a couple of weeks.

To get the most out of the course, students are urged to complete all assigned readings and/or watch any assigned videos in advance of the class meeting time. Interspersed with traditional lecture material, the class sessions will include discussions, assessments, and active problem-solving and learning through live coding and implementation exercises.
