Printing Issues:

Printers are controlled be the PC by direct IP printing or queue printing through a Windows or Novell queue.  Queue printing gives more control over the printer while IP may be faster.  We use queue printing for control of “run-away” printouts and to hold a larger job until a smaller one finishes.

PDF files can be slow – we have upgraded the firmware in the printers and put in more memory to attempt to alleviate the problem.

We have started working with printer control software. Pcounter was purchased http://www.andtechnologies.com . This software is used to limit printed output to 30 pages per "job". It also allows us to stop copies being produced and to route jobs to other printers.
