Printing Issues:
Printers are controlled be the PC by direct IP printing or queue printing through a Windows or Novell queue. Queue printing gives more control over the printer while IP may be faster. We use queue printing for control of run-away printouts and to hold a larger job until a smaller one finishes.
PDF files can be slow we have upgraded the firmware in the printers and put in more memory to attempt to alleviate the problem.
We have started working with printer control software. Pcounter was purchased http://www.andtechnologies.com . This software is used to limit printed output to 30 pages per "job". It also allows us to stop copies being produced and to route jobs to other printers.
