International Student Information
Students that are green card or I-151 cardholders are eligible to receive U.S. government Title IV assistance. International students that do not have these documents are expected to demonstrate the ability to pay for all university charges before enrolling. After completing one Fall semester at the university, international students may apply for the Rutgers International Student Scholarship. This award is reserved for undergraduate students who are currently enrolled.
Other outside financial assistance programs for international students are also available. There are loan programs that may require a U.S. co-signer, or an I-151/green cardholder’s signature, as well as your signature. In addition, you are eligible to seek employment opportunities on campus after meeting with the appropriate International Student Advisor in the Student Affairs Office.
The following page(s) list all the websites Rutgers University is familiar with that supply aid to International Students. It is important for you to remember that loans are to be paid back to the lender – they are granted to credit worthy students and accrue interest that must be repaid depending on the terms of the agreement between you the student and the lending institution; scholarships do not get paid back, they are an award presented to qualified students based on need or merit.
