Review Questions 2

Due Feb. 14. Choose one of these to answer on no more than two typed pages.Use citations from the book to make your case, whether quoting and paraphrasing. Ex: (Jaimes,p.3) Use your group to research the answers, but write the answers yourself. (People may use similar research, but should construct their own individual response.) At least one of these questions will be on the next test.

1. Compare the effects of the General Allotment Act to the effects of termination and relocation policies. In your opinion, which of these three was most devastating and why?

2. Describe how the Indian Reorganization Act came into being. Explain what Indians thought of it and which tribes supported it or didnŐt. How did the process suppress these opinions?

3. What legislation enabled the government to authorize an educational attack against native children? What role did funding play in empowering churches and civic groups? How were boarding schools used to colonize Native peoples?

4. In what ways did the teachings of the Peace Prophet (Deganawidah) and Hiawatha lay the foundation for the democratic structure of the Iroquois Confederacy?

5. Based on your knowledge from the class presentations, what would you guess the daily life of King Philip would be like? Include social structure, work, family roles, beliefs, attitudes, clothes, food, housing,etc.
