This course offers a survey, within their historical contexts, of some of the renowned texts of modern European and American literature, from the Enlightenment until recent times. A few texts by Middle Eastern and Asian writers are included in the latter part of the course.              On this web site you will find links from the five major periods covered by the course to other sites which may be useful.
