Client upgrade and patching procedures – OS and Virus software:

On Windows 2000 clients use the auto update feature but only let it download

and manually select when to do the install. If a critical problem is announced then we will update. Staff can update if they want but we will email when we think it is necessary. Once a week on Thursday morning should be scheduled to do this manual updating. If you are uncomfortable about doing the update yourself please email me to make arraignments for us to do it for you.

We are now using the McAfee EPO auto-download with RADS from MSSG website.

This should be configured to update everyday automatically – the scan engine and the .DAT file. Set this to occur over lunch to minimize production disruption.
