Installations:
Recorded the serial numbers from the PC unit and the monitor as well as any peripheral devices – scanners, zip drives, etc. And give them to Mary along with the location of the PC to be recorded in inventory. Be sure PCs are locked down – cable and block. Also be sure to secure each keyboard and mouse (and speaker and power supply
PCs – be sure to turn OFF the parallel printer port in the CMOS. No local printers are attached and this has been shown to cause ‘blue screen’.
Server install – Windows – put OS cd in drive, reboot machine with cd boot turned on (set in CMOS),
Let it do its thing including full reformat with NTFS format (this allows for better file access control),
Be sure to have the license key available (it should be on the jewel case or on the CD), if not it’s in a file called “keys.xls” on the H: drive. When done format the other drives from the Administrator menu.
