The following corrections cover errors and omissions that may appear in early pressings of the book. If anyone has evidence of more correct numbers, please contact me.

Appendix A: The Greatest at Each Number

Tommy Harmon should be listed under 98 not 96. (Dick Parker)

Whizzer White should be listed under 24 not 10.

Appendix B: Cumulative Data

Ray Flaherty should be added to those who wore Five Numbers: 1/6/8/17/44.

Bennie Friedman (21) should be added to Quarterback Numbers Over 19.

Hap Moran and Hal Hilpert should be added to the list of players who have worn 0.

Several players have had their numbers retired: Eric Dickerson 29 (Rams); Bruce Matthews 74 (Titans); Jackie Slater 78 (Rams); Bruce Armstrong 78 (Patriots); Bob St. Clair 79 (49ers); Cris Carter 80 (Vikings); Jack Youngblood 85 (Rams) and Reggie White 92 (Eagles).

Appendix C: Defunct Teams

Boston Yanks -- Tony Falkenstein wore 25 in 1944; John Martin wore 33, Frank Martin wore 24 and Jack Sachse wore 12 in 1945; Ed Fiorentino wore 54 in 1947. (Michael Lemongello)
