cause?
But more seriously, a court won't ordinarily direct a verdict in favor of
liability unless it can say that no reasonable jury could find that Sam
should not have foreseen the injury to Harriet.
Recall page 323, note 8. Most states do not direct a verdict in favor of
the owners for leaving keys in cars that are subsequently stolen. But there
are exceptions. One case is leaving the keys in a high crime area.
