That more or less describes the what the court said
was not the law in the Palsgraf case (page 304).
The railroad was arguably negligent with respect to the unnamed passenger
who was boarding the train but injured Mrs. Palsgraf. But they were not
negligent with respect to Mrs. Palsgraf and were not liable to her.
