If Morris caused Susan to have cancer earlier than she otherwise would have, then wouldn't Morris be liable for some damages due to the loss of time during which she would not have had cancer.

Consider the following: Albert kills Barry on July 1, 1997. Barry had a fatal illness and was expected to die before July 1, 1998. Albert will be liable for wrongful death but the damages will be based on Barry's life expectancy--in this case only 1 year.
