Elements of Modern Physics (Spring 2007)

Instructor: Professor Cowley
 Office: BSB 410, email: cowley@camden.rutgers.edu

Text book:Serway, Moses, and Moyer, Modern Physics (Third Edition)

Grading: Assigned homework problems20%
2 tests @ 20%40%
Final exam (cumulative)40%

Homework: One hand-in problem assigned per class, a complete written solution (not just the final answer) due at the beginning of the next class (not accepted late).

A 3x5 file card of formulas is permitted in each test. For the final exam, three file cards are allowed.

Note that there is a set of computer programs on the web site of the text book. These are quite well done, and are helpful. I shall assign at least one homework that requires you to use these programs, but you should also work through all of the computer examples that are included in the text.
