Teaching Improvement Activities

I link my teaching effectiveness inextricably with personal growth and maturity. Therefore, I regularly seek the guidance of colleagues in improving my teaching style and content. Furthermore, I keep abreast of current teaching practices by attending workshops and seminars. Some of the recent workshops I have attended include:

  • Seminar held by SBC's support staff for utilizing the WWW as an instructional tool. Based on this seminar, I set up "message boards" and "chat rooms" for my classes to enhance communication.

  • Workshop on "Teaching Management Science at Business Schools Using Excel" at the Institute for Operations Research and Management Science Meeting.

  • School of Business seminar on use of case analysis in teaching. - Seminar on "learning styles" by the Teaching Excellence Center (TEC).

  • Seminar offered by the TEC on setting up WebPages for classroom instruction. I am in the process of setting up Web Links for each of my courses, including on-line student evaluations.

  • TEC seminar on use of Power Point and Toolbook for course instruction.

  • Seminar through the Office of Sponsored Research, New Brunswick, a component of which dealt with integrating teaching and research goals.
