Dr. Colacot joined Johnson Matthey in 1995. Currently
Dr Colacot’s work involves the development of new organometallic
catalysts, process development, supported homogeneous
catalysts, high throughput screening of the catalysts for various
organic reactions such as C-C couplings, C-N couplings, etc. Thomas
also provides technical assistance to the various chemical and pharmaceutical
companies, and coordinates the seminar at JMWD. He
has published over 40 papers and reviews. Dr. Colacot is also the Program
Chair for the ACS South Jersey chapter and peer reviewer for several journals
such as Journal of Organic Chemistry, Organic Letters,
Organometallics,
J. Organometallic Chemistry, Platinum Metals Review, etc. He
also acts as external Ph.D thesis examiner to various IIT's in India and
NCL Puna. Dr. Colacot is also
half way to his MBA at Penn State, specializing in new ventures.
Dr Colacot obtained his Ph.D from the Indian Institute
of Technology, Madras in 1989 in the area of ligands and
P,S,N
heterocyclic chemistry.
From
1990-1993 he taught at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and Florida
A & M University, and has done research in the area of highly air and
moisture sensitive organophosphines, arsines and stibines.
From
1993-1995 he held a senior research associate position with Prof. Hosmane
in the applied areas of metallocenes and metallacarboranes for Ziegler
Natta catalysis (ATP/AMOCO project).
