Intelligenesis Appoints Andy Siciliano as Chief Executive Officer
New York, NY ¾ April 22, 1999 ¾ Intelligenesis Corporation, developer of the Webmind artificial intelligence architecture, today appointed Andy Siciliano as chief executive officer. With more than 16 years in international finance, Mr. Siciliano has earned recognition as a highly successful trader and manager. His background and knowledge match perfectly Intelligenesis' strategy of targeting financial services for its first wave of Webmind applications.
Starting in 1983 as a trader in Chicago, by 1998 Mr. Siciliano had risen to become Head of Fixed Income and Treasuries at Swiss Bank Corporation, where he was also a group executive board member. Prior positions at SBC included Global Head of Interest Rates, Foreign Exchange and Precious Metals from 1996 to 1998, and managing director of SBC/SBC Warburg in London from 1993 to 1995.
In addition to extensive management experience, Mr. Siciliano has a solid background in high-end financial technology, and was responsible for sealing an exclusive deal between SBC and the Prediction Company, which specializes in computer-based market forecasting. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
"Andy brings a rare combination of world-class management expertise and vision to Intelligenesis. The hard-driving business acumen that fueled his meteoric rise in global finance will help Intelligenesis navigate the highly competitive Internet software marketplace," said Intelligenesis president Lisa Pazer.
Siciliano shares the Intelligenesis vision of using its core technology to enhance and create valuable applications throughout the information economy, Pazer added. "Andy has the personal style, vision, and global influence to lead us as an artificial intelligence company, not solely as a firm providing financial market technology."
"He understands that we need to focus our application development on the financial domain right now, and also maintain the core AI development that will lay the groundwork for other Webmind applications," said chairman and chief technology officer Ben Goertzel.
Intelligenesis was founded in 1997 when Dr Goertzel, a noted cognitive and computer scientist, lecturer, and author, joined forces with former Wall Street strategist Pazer. Since then the company, headquartered in New York City, has become a global operation with more than 50 staff. The company is currently rounding out its senior executive and management team, which will be fully in place ahead of the first release of Webmind version 1.0, slated for the end of this year.
Webmind is a revolutionary artificial intelligence system that understands the meaning of concepts expressed in text or speech, as well as numerical data patterns. It allows the massive processing power of computers to tap the ultimate database: human knowledge, experience and psychology.
This technology offers a dramatic boost to the bottom line of any company vying for position in the information economy. Intelligenesis is offering this unprecedented competitive edge through strategic partnering, joint ventures, and development and licensing of custom applications.
