The assignment is to content analyze twenty of the "My Ideal Community" essays written by students in our class.
1. Open WEBCT and go to the Bulletin Board for our class.
2. Find essays to content analyze according to your last name:

3. Read the Paragraphs and Devise a
Coding Scheme with at least three Dichotomous Variables.
For example, you
might have questions such as:
Does the paragraph mention Diversity? 0 = no 1 = yes
4. Open Student Microcase in a different
Window, keeping the WEBCT Bulletin Board Open. Follow the instructions
on pages 259-264 of "Social Research Using MicroCase" to Create a Microcase
File corresponding to your Coding Scheme.
5. Code the Paragraphs into the file. You do not need to use "rekey verification" for this assignment.
6. Print out the Univariate Frequencies for three variables, using the Microcase program. You may print them out as graphs or as tables.
Note: The Student Microcase software may not allow you to keep your file, so you would be well advised to do this project at one sitting. If you wish to submit this to WEBCT, you should "copy" your univariate distributions and paste them into another software such as Word. You may submit the Word file for this assignment, it doesn't have to be html.
