This course covers communication between individuals in small groups, in businesses and organizations, in interviews, in focus groups, in the mass media and on the Internet. We will read some theories of communication, including the work of Marshal McLuhan who coined the phrase "the media is the message." We will be learning leadership and communication skills and practicing them class, so regular attendance is essential.
We will also be learning to use some of the latest communication software, including Power Point and Netscape Composer. Each student will post a home page on a World Wide Web site.
There is no textbook for this class, we will rely on materials posted on the World Wide WEB, handed out in class, or placed on reserve in the library. Students should check the Course Schedule regularly to find out about assignments and course activities.
