2.  Open the Statistical Abstract for 2001 (pdf format, if you don't have Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer, you can download it free from Adobe).   Find the forcible rape rate, per 100,000 population, for the United States in:

  1980 .................     1990 ..................   1999...............

What was the percent change from 1980 to 1990? ...................

What was the percent change from 1990 to 1999? ..................

3.  Open the State and Metropolitan Area Data Book (best to do this at Rutgers if you do not have broadband at home, it is large).  What is the population of the metropolitan area in which we are located, the Philadelphia PANJ area as of 1997? ....................?    What was the percent change from 1990 to 1997? ..................    (This figure is given on the page)

4.  Visit the Bureau of Justice Statistics site and find out how many adults were in prison in:

    1980 ....................       1990 .......................     2000 ........................
