A. The first written reference in the English language to the word "race" is in THE BOOK OF MARTYRS, by Foxe, written in 1570. The reference alludes to the "race of Abraham," as in the descendants of Abraham. Isaac and Ishmael are the sons of Abraham. Isaac is the mythological ancestor of the Hebrews. Ishmael is the mythological ancestor of the Arabs and the Moslems.
B. Carl Linnaeaus (Swedish, lived 1707-1778) wrote Systema Naturae (1758). He applied Aristotle’s system of genus and species for plants and animals. He said there were six varieties or subspecies of homo sapiens:
1. FERUS (4-foot tall, hairy, mute)
2. AMERICANUS (which is red in color)
3. EUROPAEUS (white, ruddy)
4. ASIATICUS (yellow)
5. AFER (black)
6. MONSTROSUS (deviant)
Basically, this is race as color.
C. IN 1781 JOHANN FRIEDRICH BLUMENBACH, THE GERMAN ANATOMIST, PUBLISHED THE ANTHROPOLOGICAL TREATISES.
HE ASSERTED THERE WERE FIVE "RACES"
D. THE FRENCHMAN GEORGES CUVIER SIMPLIFIED THE FIVE INTO THREE "RACES" IN 1800. HIS BOOK WAS PUBLISHED IN AMERICA IN 1831.

E. JOSEPH ARTHUR DE GOBINEAU (WROTE IN 1855) ESSAY ON THE INEQUALITY OF THE HUMAN RACES. INVENTS THE ARYAN RACE THEORY.
The white Aryan race is superior. It is the source of all human civiliza-tion.
Aryans are like yeast, causing dough to rise, or like the cream that rises to the top in whatever society they are in.
Aryans in China created the Chinese civ.

in New World
Persia, Mesopotamia, Greece, etc.
The British, French (Goths), Germans the descendants of the Aryans.
But the pure Aryan blood is vulnerable. It is contaminated and diluted, weakened by racial mixture with inferior races.
Race mixture produces "degeneration," a primitive throwback. A society can retain its greatness only if it maintains race purity. For the superior race, race mixture is death.

However after 1855, as European scholars studied Egypt, their minds and interpretations were influenced (poisoned) by Gobineau’s propaganda.
F. By late 1800s the term Nordic = northern european; blond hair, blue eyes became popular
G. GUISEPPE SERGI (1841-1936)
He despised the Aryan theories of Gobineau. The Germans, Teutons, Visigoths (Vandals) and Ostrogoths overthrew and destroyed the Roman Empire. To Sergi, the Germanic tribes were destructive barbarians.
IN 1895 SERGI INVENTS THE "MEDITERRANEAN RACE" OR EURAFRICAN RACE THEORY.
In southern Europe the "Mediterraneans" were sometimes of olive complexion. In Egypt and north Africa they were red-brown, or dark-skinned white people.
H. 1880 KARL LESPIUS (1810-1884)
Suggests Africans can be divided between "Hamites" in the north and "Negroes" in south (sub-Saharan).
I. 1925 SIR GRAFTON ELLIOT SMITH (1871-1937), British, prof. of anatomy at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, expands the "Mediterranean race" to include people of Palestine, Syria, Mesopotamia, Asia Minor, Iran, India. He called it the "brown race," but distinguished it from "true" Blacks or "Negroes". He concluded they were brown because the ancient Egyptians usually colored themselves as brown, and they resembled the Somalis and Ethiopians of east Africa.
J. DOUGLAS DERRY-DYNASTIC RACE THEORY (1920S)
According to Derry, the base of the Egyptian society was black, (or the common masses) but there was an invasion and conquest by white Caucasoid peoples from Mesopotamia. THESE CAUCASOID INVADERS were the group who created the dynasties or ruling families= the "dynastic race." The pharaohs, the ruling class were Caucasoid, and the civilization came from the Caucasoid intrusion. The blacks were ruled, the farmers, the laborers, the masses of the common people, but the civilization and intelligence came from the CAUCASOIDS.
THIS WAS A CLEVER WAY TO ADMIT THE UNDENIABLE, WHICH WAS THAT THERE WERE BLACK PEOPLE IN ANCIENT EGYPT, BUT DENY THEM ANY ROLE IN ITS CIVILIZATION OR ANY CREDIT IN CREATING IT.
K. 1939 CHARLES SELIGMAN (1873-1940) PUBLISHES RACES OF AFRICA.
ON P. 156, WROTE:
The incoming Hamites were pastoral Caucasians—arriving wave after wave—better armed as well as quicker witted than the dark agricultural Negroes."
The inference, of course, is that if the light complected Caucasoids are quick witted, then the dark agricultural Negroes must be dim-witted or slow witted.
