As part of the requirements for
this course, you are required to interview an older (~75 yr or
older) family member or friend. This research project will
culminate into a 10 page, double-spaced typed essay. Your analysis
of the interview data should be informed by the knowledge you
have acquired by taking this class. Don't forget to include
and cite the films, lectures, and the reading assignments,
including the three required books. (Evaluation
criteria)
Additional
research is not required for this paper.
We will
discuss the research process in class, starting with the formulation
of your interview
protocol. (1/27) At a later date we will cover how
to conduct
the interview and analyze
the data you collected (2/26), and finally you will
receive instructions how
to write up your research findings. (4/16)
The interview
data should be analyzed with the knowledge you have gained by
attending this class: from reading, watching films, and regular
class participation. The required citation format is APA. Also
be sure to understand the plagiarism policies at Rutgers University.
