Web Tools for Crab Users
Manage Your NetID (Account)
- Create
a NetID - creates both a NetID and a computer account needed
for email, public labs, and other services. On the next page,
select the link for Camden
Faculty and Staff (crab).
- NetID/Password
Management - Change your password and manage your secret
questions for resetting a forgotten password. When prompted
for a username, DO NOT enter @crab, or @camden, just enter your NetID.
All passwords have a maximum length of 8 characters.
- Reset Forgotten
Password - Please DO NOT use this tool if you know your
current password. To use this tool you must either know the answers to
your secret questions or have a support key from the Camden Computing
Services Help Desk. You can contact the Help Desk at
(856)225-6274 or via email at help@camden.rutgers.edu.
Manage Your Rutgers-Camden Email Account
- Setup
Mail Forwarding - Have any email sent to your Rutgers account
automatically forwarded to an alternate email account. When
prompted for a username, DO NOT enter @crab, or @camden, just enter
your NetID.
- Control
Spam Filtering - Configure spam filtering for your Rutgers
email account. When prompted for a username, DO NOT enter
@crab, or @camden, just enter your NetID.
- Control
Vacation Auto-Reply - Configure and enable/disable automatic
replies to messages sent to your Rutgers email account, to alert people
that you are not reading email while away. When prompted for a
username, DO NOT enter @crab, or @camden, just enter your NetID.
Manage
Your Rutgers-Camden Computer Account
- Check
Your Account Quota - this tool displays the current and
maximum storage space allocated to your crab account. This
storage space is used to hold your H: drive and your Rutgers email.
When prompted for a username, DO NOT enter @crab, or @camden, just
enter your NetID.
- Web
Site Permissions - this tool will set all the permissions
inside your public_html
directory on crab to be world-readable.
This will make the contents of public_html
accessible via the web. When prompted for a username, DO NOT enter
@crab, or @camden, just enter your NetID.
- Secure
File Permissions - this tool will increase the security of
files and directories in your crab account (H: drive) by setting the
permissions so that only you can read or write to them. This DOES NOT
include files and directories in the public_html
directory. When prompted for a username, DO NOT enter @crab, or
@camden, just enter your NetID.
- Change
Your Unix Shell - typically only useful for experienced Unix
users. This tool allows you to switch between various shells (csh, ksh,
bash, tcsh). If you don't know what any of this means, you
probably don't need to use this tool.
- Change
Your GECOS Information - also typically only useful for
experienced Unix users. This tool allows you to edit your
GECOS (also called finger)
information. If you don't know what any of this means, you
probably don't need to use this tool, either.
