Services

Professional Tutoring

Student support services at Rutgers-Camden is committed to providing quality one-on-one and group tutoring sessions to eligible students who would like additional academic support. Tutoring is a great way for students to receive one-on-one instruction to increase academic skills and receive immediate feedback. Advising

SSS participants will be provided with advising in various areas that will address both academic and affective needs. These areas include course selection, career planning, graduate and professional school counseling, and financial aid counseling.

Peer Mentoring

Mentoring will be provided in order to encourage leadership skills. The mentors will be tutors or project participants in their junior or senior years who will be paired with freshmen or transfer students to assist participants through transitional periods and help keep students focused. Grant Aid

At the end of each Fall and Spring semester TRiO SSS Grant Aid will be awarded. To be considered for the award, freshman and sophomore TRiO Student Support Services participants must satisfy the following criteria:

Federal Requirements

• Pell Grant recipient

• Must have unmet financial need according to the Office of Financial Aid


Rutgers Camden TRiO Student Support Services Program Requirements

• Full-time currently enrolled at the Rutgers University Camden Campus

• Enrolled in the TRiO Student Support Services Program

• Freshmen or sophomore status ( Juniors and Seniors considered if funds remain)

• A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0( first-year students may have no GPA but must be receiving the Pell Grant)

Juniors should have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.3 or better. Seniors should have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better.

• Attended a minimum of 90% of regularly scheduled SSS tutoring sessions during the current semester, and

• Attended a minimum of two SSS sponsored seminars or approved activities each semester.

• An updated Individual Academic Plan for Fall and Spring semesters.

• Met with Ms. Ceiwyn Moore for your Semester Progress Meeting.

• Students must make Grant Aid request in writing. Include the amount of your request and a budget for how the money will be spent.

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program provides awards of up to $5000 for U. S. undergraduate students to pursue study abroad opportunities. Award amounts vary depending on the length of study and student need, with an average award amount of $4000.

This congressionally funded program is sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U. S. Department of State and is administered by the Institution of International Education-Southern Regional Center in Houston, Texas.
