 ·Course description:

  • This is the last level of the basic skills course. General overview of elementary algebra is presented while the focus is on intermediate algebra. This is a no-credit course; a grade of S or U will be assigned.
  • Topics covered are solving one variable equations, inequalities, operations with polynomials, expressions involving exponents (integers and rational), solving systems of linear equations, graphing and generating equations of lines, solving quadratics equations, and graphing parabolas.
  • In general we will be covering 2-3 sections per day. Chapters covered: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,9.1-9.5, 10, 11.2, 11.4, and 12.2-12.4

·Grading:

  • Attendance: There are no excused absences. Attendance of all classes is expected. It’s the full responsibility of the student to make up any material missed.
  • Quizzes (20%), 2 Tests (25% each) and Final Exam (30%) will be drawn primarily from the assignments. No make up allowed.
  • Homework will be given regularly and will not be collected. However, it is strongly recommended. Quizzes and tests will be drawn from the assignments. Any assignments will be discussed in the next class meeting.
