Individual Instructions

Aaron Abbate:  find some statistical studies that offer evidence on the effectiveness of boot camps as compared to other means of treatment for offenders.

Beth Allchin:  you will have to go through a lot of things to find some original research studies, but there are some such as:
Polygamy, disrupted reproduction, and the state: Malian migrants in Paris, France. By: Sargent, Carolyn; Cordell, Dennis. Social Science & Medicine, May2003, Vol. 56 Issue 9, p1961, 12p; DOI:
and Sexual behaviour of adolescents in Nigeria: cross sectional survey of secondary school students. By: Slap, Gail B; Lot, Lucy; Huang, Bin; Daniyam, Comfort A; Zink, Therese M; Succop, Paul A. BMJ:

Jennifer Batavick:  original research on anorexia and eating disorders is easy to find

Stacey Brockenbraugh:  try using advanced search and searching "all text" for "laser" and "surgery" and "complications" .

Beth Brood:  It may be hard to find "research" on holistic education, but it doesn't have to be quantitative.  You can use articles that relate observations in a specific setting.  Just typing "holistic education" in Basic Search finds 48.

Megan Ducoff:  You can use the articles in your bibliography if you like, you are well along on this already.

Christopher Heide:  searching on "unionization" look for articles from scholarly journals

Jason Herman:  Look for actualy statistical studies on the relationship between capital punishment and homicide rates.  You can use some articles in my paper at:  http://crab.rutgers.edu/~goertzel/econojunk.doc,.  Look at my summary of the Ehrlich paper which is probably too old to find online but is worth looking at if you go to the library.  You can find some studies at:
http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/article.php?scid=12&did=167#STUDIES

Erin Jones:  There are several suicide prevention papers mentioned in my comments on your paper.

Kimberly Jones:  the problem here is not getting lost in the mass of opinion pieces about capital punishment.  You can use some articles in my paper at:  http://crab.rutgers.edu/~goertzel/econojunk.doc, but see if there is something more recent.  The Bonner and Fessendren, F.  (2000).  "States with No Death Penalty Share Lower Homicide Rates,"  New York Times, September 22. is original research even though  it is in  a newspaper..  You can find some studies at:  http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/article.php?scid=12&did=167#STUDIES

Anatoly Klieger:  You can use some of the experts quoted in your paper, e.g., "Steven Silvern of Auburn University, Scott Dagenfield, of Columbus, Ohio, and David Surrey of St. Peter’s College are some of the experts. "  Find their articles and write them up.

Candice Lucente:   Use the articles from some of the "researchers" quoted in your paper, e.g., the "researchers" who "say that young people need approximately 9 ¼ to 10 hours of sleep a night"  or Mary Carskadon, or Richard Simon.  or Mark Muhowald.  Or the Minnesota study. Where did you get these from?  Did you read their original work?

Akilah Massey:   Get some rigorous research studies on the effectiveness of ISP.    Include this one:  Title: A REVIEW OF RESEARCH FOR PRACTITIONERS ,  By: Fulton, Betsy, Latessa, Edward J., Stichman, Amy, Travis, Lawrence F., Corbett Jr., Ronald P., Harris, M. Kay, Federal Probation, 00149128, Dec97, Vol. 61, Issue 4

Pria Milledge:  Type "foster care programs" in Academic Search Premier.  Look for articles in professional journals such as;
PROFESSIONAL FOSTER CARE: A FUTURE WORTH PURSUING? ,  By: Testa, Mark F., Rolock, Nancy, Child Welfare, 00094021, Jan/Feb99, Vol. 78, Issue 1

Abby Romberg:  the articles in your bibliography are fine to use for this assignment

Jason Tombs:  the articles in your bibliography are fine to use for this assignment

Michael  Torrice:  the articles in your bibliography are journalistic, you should be able to find some original studies easily enough

Alexis Tumolo:  The problem here is sorting through all the opinion pieces for some real research.  Look at the references in my paper at:  http://crab.rutgers.edu/~goertzel/econojunk.doc Individual Instructions for the Library Research Assignment:
